HISTORY
This is the history of Te Kohanga Reo o Waitara:
In 1982 Te Kohanga Reo o Waitara began at the Maori Anglican Church in Waitara.
Under the establishment of 2 kuia Te Kohanga Reo o Waitara was given access
to the premises of Princess Street Maori Mission where they operated
successfully for 6 years.
In 1988 after being gifted buildings by a local, Land was then acquired behind Owae Marae. All that remained was consent from Marae Trustees which was granted.
Te Kohanga Reo o Waitara opened the doors to their new refurbished open
plan whare in October 1988 with a full roll and very grateful whanau.
